History of the village
The Venetians had characterized the village as ''Buono Acqua''. They had a fortress system with observatories in coastal. The ''kamari'' beach was a bay where the pirates moor during the Byzantine and Venetian period.
The first inhabitants
The Mafrorassides were the first inhabited Gerani. It was a family of 150 members who built the village in 5 neighborhoods that today are distinguished as a huge circle. Their homes were so close, almost touching each other, which could go from one to another from the terrace. They builted the houses in that way to protect themselfes from pirates.
The village of Gerani is a typical Cretan village , it has taverns, supermarkets, pastry shop,souvlaki bar, traditional coffee shops and pharmacy . Nearest beach from villa is 3 km. Chania airport is about 60 Km far way . Heraklion airport is about 85 Km far away.
